What is jet lag, anyway?
It is about that time of year when I usually start planning a trip, start dreaming of other places- greener pastures, so to speak. I was speaking to my friend Miranda 9who comments here sometimes, when she is not emotionally scarred from my badgering- although this, side note should in no way be construed as an apology and any such claims should be looked upon, at best as works of fiction) on MSN a few days ago and she mentioned something that has been bubbling over in my mind for a few days now. The idea is excellent, and I am planning on saving the money to go through with it. I just have one kink to figure out (although there are many others too), but this what I have so far:
Doha – Brisbane, Australia (Anonymous lives here) = 7669 miles
Brisbane – Tokyo (A tall white guy teaches English in a city close by) = 4433 miles
Tokyo- Toronto (Home and many, many friends) = 6444 miles
Toronto - Bermuda (a pimp named Slickback lives here) = 1115 miles
Bermuda – Paris (The above mentioned pimp’s girlfriend lives here) = 3578 miles
Paris - Doha (I work here) = 3097 miles
Total number of cities landed in = 5
Total number of cities conquered = countless more, since I can travel within these countries to anywhere I want. Also, travel within Europe is much easier by train. Thus, Paris could be a launch pad to many other cities such as Berlin, Amsterdam, and Vienna.
Minimum stay required in each country I fly to = 10 days
Total miles, as calculated @ http://www.indo.com/distance/ = 26,336 miles
Round trip world ticket (with stops in up to fifteen cities and/or a total of 29,000 miles) = 1500-2000 Euros in low season.
Total cost in QR. For les say 1850 Euros = 8602 riyals
I need to figure out two things: most important are the schedules of all my friends in these various cities whom I intend to visit; at the same time, I want to know if I can leave Doha (when I quit work), and actually end my journey in Toronto, this would mean more miles to travel to other places rather than return to Doha. This could be a sticking point, but lets see what happens. But seriously though, I don’t see how they can stop me from just staying in Toronto, it IS my country.
And yes, it is expensive. But, its worth it I feel. I can travel to countless other cities on
the way, too. Just some of the cities that come to my mind, as stopovers between the countries where my friends are, include: Singapore, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Victoria in British Columbia, Vancouver, New York, Mexico City, Caracas, Havana, Nicotia in Cyprus, Barcelona, Lisbon, Istanbul, Cairo, Nairobi, Beirut.
The possibilities are trly endless.
Let the planning begin, not to mention the saving.
