Wanna know my five year plan?

I signed my contract with BMW today. Yeah, exciting stuff. I'm happy, really happy. Thank you for all the congrats and the wishes.

But, I was speaking to a friend on MSN just minutes ago, and dang it he got my mind racing on what I want to do after this. I know, I know.. slow down Uzi. Don't get ahead of yourself, you haven't even started a day at your new job, yet. Hell, I might not even have this job if there's an issue with the immigration paperwork that still needs to get sorted out. But, I can't help be exzcited. The ball is out of my court now, whatever happens will happen. The only thing i can do for now is dream.

So, about this five year plan thing... I've never had a five year plan or even a 6 month plan. I'm a fly off the seat of my pants kind of guy, really. But, I figure that if I'm ever going to start, this is as good a time to do it as any. New job, new place, new prospects - the suaul stuff that gets people excited before they get bogged down by 56 hour work weeks and the sweltering heat of the Middle East.

So, yeah. I'm hoping to work at this job for maybe the next two years. If it all goes to plan and I impress my employers with my work (which I certainly hope to do), then I want to quit with some laurels from this job and go back West. Once there, I hope to enroll in a university and study for an MBA. I want to study more than I already have, and this job really does help as a springboard towards that goal.

To tell you the honest truth (and this is where my friend's confidence in me comes in), I want to attend an Ivy league school like Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business or UPenn's Wharton School of Business. If nothing else, I'd like to attend York U. or U of Western Ontario in Canada. All four of those school have excellent business programs thata re ranked among the best in the world. I'd take a bank loan out for an Ivy league school, and if I go to Canada, I'd apply for OSAP. These are just details though, as I said, my mind has been racing.

What I am sure of though is that iw ant to study. I just have to work hard at this job and have them recommend me for my work ethic and ability to learn. I need to be good for teh next two years and not slack off. With any luck, I'll have experience, merit and ability to get into a good school and do the degree I want to do. That's my plan, I don't know if that qualifies as five year plan cuz it could take longer or even less time but whatever, right now I feel like dreaming. I want to be a somebody. And right now I have the chance. So bring it on BMW, you're a great opportunity for sure, but I got bigger things in the works.
