odds n' ends
I'm still 'training' at the BMW showroom here in Doha. That basically means that I'm gettign teh rundown on various cars, reading catalogues and having awesome espresso served to me every hour or so. The espresso train helps me keep focused, ie. notice the zoom effect given to all the ads in all the catalogues for all the BMW cars. You can't pick out such stuff unless you're high as a bean on coffee. The training goes on, any day now I should have my papers for permanent residency in Doha and I'll be officially a part of the marketing team. Inshallah. I think they have some big and lengthy plan to train me. It might involve a trip to Dubai too which really is teh awesomest icing on an already awesome cake. I mean like Ritz Carlton type of icing you know, none of that Hilton stuff for me please. I digress, but I'm serious about icing though. If there's anything you take away from this post, it should be that.
Moving on, the Edmonton Oilers are doing awesome. I list the Oilers as my second favorite team and I am mad pumped to see (alas, I use that word only as a figure of speech) them go so far into the playoffs and not only that, be only two game awy from the Stanley Cup finals. I hope they make it there, and I hope they kick some ass. However, if they hope to win teh cup, they need to finish this current series fast, two more quick wins would do that, giving them time to recuperate before the finals begin. Or else, they'll be too tired to do anything in the final round. Fingers crossed.
Ok, next on the list is... oh right, Alberto Gonzalez - Attorney General of the United States. He's a dumbass first of all. Hecame out at a press conference and actually said that he would be willing to tap reporters' phones in order to lead the authorities to leads faster. First of all, I am not knaive enough to have belived that the US does nto already do this, but to have a guy of his rank in teh administration declare such activities to the world is, well... assinine (second s is deliberate). How can you support free speech and media rights in Iraq when you can't even do so at home, and lets not make any qualms about it shall we, the US is a much safer place than Iraq on any day of the year. Such political stunts make me cringe with disgust, sometimes its better to keep your mouth shut dude. Now, all the reporters are goign to make telephone calls from payphones. And let's not even talk about the skewering you'll get from Amnesty International.
