I've been rearranging letters for recreation and recompense since I was 10. there hasn't been any money yet, but I'm keeping the faith.

busy busy busy

That is what Bokononists say when they can tell that a lot of stuff is going on behind the scenes, stuff they are not aware of but are coming to pass. If you are wondering what Bokononists are, you should pick up Kurt Vonnegut's book, The Cat's Cradle. That will explain much. As to why I have started this post with a high and mighty literary reference - that is a tale much more easily told.

I have been busy. And when I get busy, I tend to slow down on my blogging, not because I am busy and don't have time to write (rest assured I still sleep after my dawn prayers), its because when I start to write about my busy days and what happened on them, I get too descriptive, boring and chronological- it sounds tedious even to me, I can only imagine how you all feel. But I do want to tell you whats happening, so here's a less tedious breakdown of the last two days;

- On Tuesday, I decided that since I was not getting a chance to set up an appointment with BMW, I would just go down there and sit in front of the guy's office to see if he could squeeze me in at some point even if for five minutes.

- I ended up walking there because all the way there I could not find a taxi. It took me two hours. I left at 9am and stumbled into the BMW showroom at 11 am. I don't know how far it was in kilometres, but the secretary gasped that I had walked half the city practically.

- I waited for 4 hours. Yes, four. Then the Senior Vice President for Advertising and Marketing interviewed me. I got murdered. He asked really really technical questions and I was soo tired, it was my worst interview ever.

- But, I seemed to have impressed him enough, and seemed to have enough credibility going from my last interview with the Human Resources person, that he decided to give me a make-believe project to work on, assemble and present to him next week.

- The project is to launch a luxury car dealership in Doha. The car is not sold in Doha yet, we will be the first ones. I have to present it to him as if I am his marketing person and he is the investor. I can pick any car as long as its not in Doha now, which narrows down my choices considerably to about three cars; Pagani, Lotus and Koenigsegg. Trust me, they have every other car here already. Bentley, Lamborghini, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin too. Tell me about it.

- So, now I have to work for no money in the prospect that it will lead to a job with lots of money. The project needs reasearch, it needs me to be creative, and i need to be confident that i can nail it. I know I can nail. Question is, do I have enough time in the next week to nail it.

- I have two exams to write in the next 15 days, thats if I want to graduate from university. And I want to, so I have to study for those two history courses too, which obviously complicates matters as far as that project goes. And Oh, before one of those exams, I have two more essays to write for that course, um yeah. Screwed, aren't I?

- As far as my job is concerned, another session of classes started a few days ago, and its going well. I'm getting teh hang of teaching pretty easily. I wouldn' mind teaching forever if it wasn't for the serious lack in long term money. But as a part time gig, here in Qatar teaching to Arabs is quite lucrative I must say.

- I got paid yesterday. Its a beautiful world indeed. Thelist of things bought up till now is as follows:
  • Argentina football jersey.
  • Croatia football jersey.
  • Japan jersey and shorts (for my youngest brother).
  • a huge school bag (for my middle brother).
  • A pimp school bag (for my youngest brother).
  • Colognes: Issey Miyake, Burberry and Mont Blanc. (for me and my bro). And I bought Cabotine (for my sister).
  • Two ties (really really nice ties).

The grand total I have spent till now... 300 riyals. God, I love shopping here. Thank you for making filthy rich oil nations with stupid people in them who continue to push aside all foundations of economics and pricing only to still be rich as bonkers. may this continue in abundance for many years to come. Ameen.

- So yeah, that's my week up till now. From the ridiculous trek I had to make halfway across the city on Tuesday to the debacle of an interview that afternoon. The fretting over a cheque that had still not arrived on Wednesday, to the elation of Thursday morning when I cashed my cheque and hopped around the city a self-sufficient man once again. I might be busy, but I'm enjoying this sped up pace, its keeping me awake - its got me interested in something, anything. Yes sir, its safe to say, things are looking on the up and up. Alhamdulillah.
