Jalwa-e-Janaan

Junaid Jamshed's cd, Jalwa-e-Janaan which recently hit stores in Pakistan and to wide acclaim has become a groundbreaking album in, inspiring listeners worldwide- and especially in Pakistan. From chai ki dukans to colourful buses, from Burns road to Saddar, Junaid's words resound from every wall, people joining in and enjoying his words. His poetry is many a times too polished and too tough for many to full grasp, however, his voice and his passion keep the listener enthralled throughout. The majesty of his words (and indeed, of his subject) makes this cd enjoyable from start to finish.

Songs like "Muhammad (PBUH) ka Roza" have become cult classics in Pakistan. I can never listen to this second track on the cd, without picturing my 3 year old niece singing it in her own cute way, replacing the poet's name with her own father's name while he was ghone to Medina himself on Hajj.

This cd is groundbreaking in many ways; for many years, naats have remained on the fringes of Pakistani society, looked upon as a devotional art rather than able to arouse widespread public acclaim. However, this perception is slowly changing, and has become even less prevalent as Pakistanis have seen someone of Jamshed'd artistic (and legendary) calibre turn his focus solely onto naats.

In addition to this whole cd, I have also included one other naat in the zip file. This naat comes from a very famous naatkhawan named Owais Kadri and remains one of my favourite naats of all time, its called Ishq ke Rang mein.

Enjoy the naats, pass them along and tell people that they can come by here and download it. This upload will only be up for a week according to the site's instructions, so they should come by soon if they want it. Oh, and tell me what you think of course.
