the jist of it in a list
I'm being a list freak as always, here are a few things I asolutely adore about Doha,
- Two words, pineapple icecream. No need to read that again, you read it right.
- Also, Tutti Fruiti icecream. Yes, I know it sounds gay, but it tastes delicious.
- The simultaneous call of the azan from five different mosques, seemingly fighting for supremacy of the airwaves.
- Beirut Resturant. They serve Hummus, just Hummus and nothing but Hummus. They will go across the street to get you Falafel though. But only falafel, no pepsi. 2 platters of hummus and one plate of falafel with some warm Khuboos will cost you 20 riyals, thats $6.50. Beat that on Danforth Avenue.
- That grown men, who have been here for years, will stand next to cars, monuments, trees(!) even roundabouts that look nice and take elaborate photographs with their friends and themselves posing for minutes on end. I swear to you, even people at Niagara falls would get embarassed hours before these people finally click the camera.
- The perfumes that Arab women wear, just walking past them can be an intoxicating excursion.
- One more word, lamb. Those of you lucky enough to have eaten lamb everytime the menu says meat, know exactly what I'm talking about. And what I'm talking about is tasty, soft, and juicy. No dish with meat should ever proclaim itself tasty unless it is lamb, everything else is.. well, just cow.
- And lastly, I love how much everyone here respects Canada. Twice this week I have had conversations with people that claimed that if Canadians were to all accept Islam, it'd be the be the best place to live in the world. Forgive their skewed views, but atleast it was a nice sentiment.
ps: don't worry, I still love you even though you're all a bunch of non-believers. :)
