Is Wayne Brady gonna have to choke a bitch?
As I sit here watching a Frasier rerun, I can't help but feel astonished at how much I have cut back on tv. It has not been a deliberate attempt by any means, infact I harangued my dad to get a tv and hook up the satellite just so me and my brother would be less bored.
Anyway, wow... I love Seinfeld. And Frasier ... and most of all, Third Rock from the Sun. What a spectacular show. So so funny and just amazing casting all around. I can't believe I had forgotten about it for so long. It has so many quotable moments but alas, I have no one to quote them too.
I miss John Stewart. I still haven't come across his show on the 1000+ channels we have. Most of them are useless, none of them are very good. HBO would be fantastic right about now.
Anyway, just wanted to say that I love tv, but its not the same without intoxicants and friends sitting aorund to remember all the lines. Those were the days when a whole car ride would be spent with M just screaming at each other... WHAT? OK!! WHAT? OK!!! WHAT? WHAT? OKKK! (that's a dave chappelle reference- for those that got lost for a sec there). Or the nights spent partying and just screaming, Its a celebration bitches! (DC again).
Alas, there is no family guy here. That show is way way too risque for this tame market. Simpsons is absent too, chalk that up to Duff beer I guess. There's plenty of that nitwit Dr. Phi tho, and Geraldo, and it seems people in the middle east also like glamourisation of misery i.e. Oprah. And they like crappy hip hop here too! Oh my god, the number of times that I have seen Cassidy on this tv is absolutely astounding. Even MuchMusic has the sense to not overplay certain trash. They might play the video once a day, but not seventeen times for god sakes. And, someone at some tv station somewhere needs to get thir Snoop Dogg affection checked out by a professional, cuz seriously yo that shit is not healthy in heavy doses. Lastly, even a great song such as damian Marley's Welcome to jamrock will lose its shine if you play it allll the damn day long. Please, stop.
By the way, anyone actually miss Rosie O'Donnell? I remember so many days when I used to come home from high school early due to a spare and put on Rosie. I truly do miss her. She was fun. Atleast you could laugh at her jokes and her antics rather than sit there and be depressed cuz of Phil and Oprah. Its a testament to our society that Oprah is the world's most powerful female tv personality.
This post started as a proclamation to the greatness of Third Rock from the Sun and here I am talking about Oprah. Why do I hate so much without even wanting to? The answer is tv folks, its tv.
ps: The title of this post is also a Dave Chapelle reference.
