Prochaine Arret: Etretat
(Next Stop: Etretat)
The morning of my last post, Mag & I left on our two day trip. It took a lot of driving and I'm happy to say that Mag handled that part admirably) that too without complaining more than was necessary- and it was necessary.
The first stop on our journey (after the cafe au lait/croissant/gas trip) was the small town of Etretat. I should perhaps back up a little and tell you where we were going. Our plan was to drive into west/north-west France and slowly make our way along the English Channel coast in order to reach Omaha Beach and a few other WW II sites. This is a countryside peppered with small towns, creperies and of course, cafes. There are few large cities, and if we went by one, we almost never stopped in our ever frantic rush against time and the urge to see as much for as long as possible.

Etretat- I absolutely fell in love with this town. Sitting right on the English Channel, this area boasts rolling hill and blimmable cliffs that provide a breathtaking view in all directions- imagine a brochure for Scotland's sea side towns but with everyone chattering away in French.

Pictures are worth a thousand words and I think that these ones tell the whole story. We had a great time walking around and checking out the scenery. It was actually breathtaking, the beauty of the ocean juxtaposed with the hills and greenery that I was standing on was spellbinding. Whats more is that the view went on for as far as the eye could see. An ominous sign for little did I know that we would follow the Normandy coastline throghout the trip.

I bought a beautiful present for someone in Etretat. I can't say who it was for or what it is, it'll suffice to say that it is spectacularly haute couture- and yes, Mag thought so too.
After a beautiful and quite fruitful two hous in Etretat, we decided to head for our next destinqtion. Prochaine Arret: Honfleur.
