you can call me The Don

Having finished a delicious meal of home made pizza last night, I wento my room to take my daily medication doses. Came downstairs a few minutes later to find my face swelling up. Within minutes my lower cheeks had swelled and I could feel my lower lip area was also adamant on joining the rest of the face.

Twice in the last week I had smaller flare ups of swelling on my face...one on the nose and one other episode on the upper lips - both of those falre ups lasted just hours and it all subsided with a bit of ice on teh face.

Yesterday was a different story though, the swelling started and increased rapidly. I reached the hospital about 45 minutes into the flare up and had to wait about an hour in teh main ER before they moved me to the "fast track" ER area, basically for smaller problems that can be dealt with without hindering some of the bigger ER cases. All the while, I knew it getting worse, the right side of nose had a prominent bump and the face wad getting bigger. I waited about and hour and a half beofre they called my name but only after they had called the names of a few people thatw ere clearly in not as much duress as I. One kid, about 11 years old was playing gameboy and wolfed down three bags of doritos just there in the ER. Another group of girls, it being unclear which of them was sick, we playing cards and giggling to their heart's delight. I had just resolved that if the Doctor called the lady who was jabbering away on her cell phone before me, I was gonna start shouting and cursing. They must have figured out I was in for no more dilly dallying and called my name at 12:40 am.

The Doctor had one look at my much worsened condition, asked me two questions and sent me straight into the main ER area, from where I had just walked over about an hour and a half ago. I got to surpass the line and got my own ER room with its basinette, speaking of which, the first look in the mirror leads to this post's title. My chins wer twice as big, my nose was humongous and my right side was literally hanging off teh face it having surpassed the boundaries of the usual face. I looked like a demented Marlow.

The rest as they say is history. I got epi pen within minutes, benadryl, god knows what other IVs and I was off to sleep. At 8:30 am, I was let go with the doc saying the swellling wqould subside in a few days, it having gotten as better as it could for now. My face is still a bit swollen.

Don't know what I'm allergic too, have no idea when it will hit gain since I have no clue and now I have to carry an adrenalin shot with me everywhere I go. As if the inhalers weren't weighing down my pockets enough already. fuck.
