abbas dickridin' the americans.. already

Palestinian Presidential canadidate, Mahmoud Abbas has apologised to Kuwait for the PLO regime having supported Saddam's attack on Kuwait. The move discredited the PLO tyo a great degree, and many feel that America has taken a much harsher view of plastinian causes following that attack. Some others of us would obviously feel that the US has actually never taken the Palestinian cause seriously. Either way, for Abbas to have made this statement yesterday, signals a Palestinian leader that will look to appease the American sentimentality.

His fiercest competitor remains Marwan Barghouti who is serving five life terms in an Israeli prison, while Marwan is seen as someone the Israelis cannot work with and the Americans will shun, Abbas is playing his cads right and cozying up to the both the parties that are virulenltly opposed to Marwan.

work for your people Abbas, not for your pockets or the Americans.

(edit: marwan barghouti pulled out of the elction race in palestine today. he came under heavy criticism over the past few days for having split the palestinian vote. His declaration as a candidate made him popular with almost as many as those that suported abbas. abbas is the clearly frontrunner now and i'm not really sure how i feel about this.)
