This is a reply i wrote on a forum site a few days ago. I haven't written anything political lately and this just got me riled up. I thot I'd post it here. I was like the 15th guy to reply to the message. You should read this news story first if you don't know abt Carolyn Paarish.

RE: Subject - Carolyn Paarish Out
it's been a long hiatus..
carolyn parish might be highly disliked by many of you because of how she has voiced her opinion, yet we forget to take into account her message. Her message goes much farther than just stepping on Bush's head, it says I won't stand for the crap any longer. You haven't listened to us whyen we tried to voice our opinion in marches and rallies. You haven't read the millions of postcards, you haven't paid any heed to the millions that have poured out into streets from Tokyo to Jakarta to Cairo to Istanbul to London and New York. If you choose not to listen, then we choose to voice our words thsi way. Atleast more people will hear us, and maybe they'll realise how fed up they are too. How many other MPs are actually saying the stuff she is, stuff we are all thinking abt. Not one MP has gotten up and made a passionate speech as to why Canada's policies should not lean towards America's indiscretions.
Yet, if you were to survey our population, the vast majority of us would not be in support of Missile Defense, or Iraq or any other country Bush wants to go into next.
Carolyn Parrish attended the Eid prayers in Mississauga last week at the mosque at the corner of QEW and Erin Mills. At the prayers, she made a short speech telling people of why she was there. She spoke of how the Martin govt's policies towards the middle eastern conflict might soon shift from neutrality to support for Israel. She said that Martin has surrounded himself with pro-Israeli ministers and bureaucrats and that there is a troubling policy shift that is slowly taking hold.
Ms. Parrish's words carried a lot of weight in that crowd (approx 1500 people at the one prayer time i attended. There were three prayer times.) People walked away with an understanding of what might happen and how to stem the tide. Most of all, they walked away with a sense of respect for Ms. Parrish. She might be outspoken and uncouth to some, but to a growing majority of canadians, fed up with the system and its complacency with US (in)actions, Carolyn Parrish is a breath of fresh air. I saw grown men thanking Carolyn for her words and asking her to keep up what she was doing. She is one who supports causes dear to many of our hearts. And like us, she is fed up, and if ure fed up with the system around you, you do somethign about it. You do somethign about it especially if ure an MP and ure able to make it on to TV.
Here we are as Canadians, worrying abt how her words reflect upon us, when what we don't realise is how our actions are affecting the world everyday. How do our day to day actions reflect on humanity? Don't US actions all over and our complacency to them reflect badly upon us too? as canadians? as humans? as a civilisation?
or does the responsibility lie out of our realm now that we can't find a scapegoat ?
To me, Parrish has done more with five or six comments than half the MPs could do in one year. Its time to tell America to buzz off and make it clear, that we as Canadians will not tally along. I for one, am very glad for Ms. Parrish's words, and were I not two streets out of her riding, i'd be voting for her next time too.
