The new Tipping Point album by the Roots is disappointment to me. The band tried to go mainstream and lost much of its touch. There are six solid tracks on the album and the rest is just weak. Simple. This was advertised as a breakthrough album, it is not that for sure.

This Black Jack Johnson live album is good. This is a band that rapper Mos Def formed and is currently engrossed in. This is a band with a lot of undeground hype right now.. This live album sounds raw. But it's not a hip hop band. They are a rock band. And they are damned good at it too. Definitely worth checking out..

mos def on the mic, spittin' and a bunch of sick musicians in the back just jammin' ..

Heard a really good song today. Song's called Heaven and its by the Los Lonely Boys. Yeah, awesome name. This song is really melodious and its just a really good song. I can't say much more bcuz the reason the video and song stood out to me was that it was so different from today's rock... it was kinda cool. The video is shown on MuchMoreMusic sometimes.

Mos Def is rocking the spot right now.. i'm feeling this joint. He's so open to experimentation. Right now, he's just rapping an old school hip hop track to the beat of just one drum... and he's just using tempo and impromptu remixes to make the live crowd love it.

His interaction with the crowd is sick.. He's talking to all the ladies in the crowd and complimenting them with song lyrics.. oldschool soulful lyrics.. and then the next moment he jokes with the guys and about how early it still is..

he calls it ghetto rock ..

this weekend is caribana. I have no plans yet. Does anybody wanna do anything for Caribana? A million partyers in the city, we're bound to have fun...

i don't listen to pop songs. Atleast, I try as much as I can not to listen to them. But, obviously a person is exposed to a lot of pop songs just in malls or even at work (damn you celine and shania).

So, the last pop song that I actually liked was back in 2000. Yeah, years back. Might as well be old school pop.
