Waking up to a lesson in life..

I take the earliest bus home in the morning from my place of work. I take that bus to Square One, from where I catch another to my house. That bus comes at 5:49 am and takes about 40 minutes to get home. My stop is the second last on the route and quite far from the bus' eventual stopping point. When I take the bus in the morning, not many people get on it. It's usually the same people everyday, either going to work or coming home from work like me.

Two days ago, I got on the bus in the morning and noticed that an old man who ususally takes the bus every morning was not on it. I told the bus driver to wait for a minite and went back into the bus terminal to look for the old man. He always seems to be in a rush and seems so sleepy at the same time. I thought he might have dozed off and missed the bus. I went looking for him and could not find him. I got back on the and went home, all the while hoping that he wan't in the washroom while the bus came and left.

Today, while on the bus,I fell asleep in my seat because I was tired as hell. I felt someone trying to wake me up and awoke to notice that the old man was telling me that I was gonna miss my stop if I didn't wake up. I hurriedly pulled the chain, thanked him and got off. I couldn't help smiling for a few minutes.

I tried to help him that day, and he reciprocated today, even though he knew nothing of my act. Sometimes, you come to appreciate the goodness of people's hearts. One good deed is always awarded by another.
