One more exam to go... I have a good mark in the course, so I'm gonna study hard and try to keep it. It's at 4 pm tomorrow. I'm not too worried, it's American foreign policy, worst comes to worst, I can just rant.
also... I should tell you ppl that these past few days have been momentous for this blog. I recieved my first 10 hate emails. This proves two things. One, a small voice does matter, becuz it does rattle some cages. And second, someone's reading. What? Who? Where? Really?
here is some stuff I have collected over the past few days:
A government sanctioned French report/study has recommended that muslim headscarves, jewish skull caps and Chritian crosses are just some of the "over-zealous" religious objects that should be banned from public places in the name of secularism. Obviously, this is a highly contentious issue (especially the headscarves) if the French govt decides to enforce the report's recommendations. Just when I though I was starting to like the french...
Here is another dissection of the horrible job that the United States has done within Iraq over the past year. After reading this article, it is hard not to think that the US should not only get out, it should also repent for what it has done by supporting the reconstruction of Iraq in every way possible. George Packer paints a devastating picture of the American occupation in this New Yorker article.
The President's Chief of Staff, Andy Card has gone on record to say that questions and comments about the pre-war intelligence coming out of Washington are "moot". What? Who is this neandrathal? You're the moot one you dimwit. How do we ascertain what went wrong and why we attacked a country based on wrong intelligence? How do we make sure that this NEVER happens again if we don't ask questions?
After WWII, the US government carried out a study concerning every facet of the military and state departments that had anything to do with the war. The study went on for ten years. It made recoomendations on what could be improved and what did not work. And... America won that war! Not only that , there was no contention as to whether or not America should have fought in the war the first place. So, why can we not look back at the decisions made now when we did so well back then? Mr. Card you are moot. (that digression to the level of a Grade 3 student will be ignored by all)
Democrat leadership candidate John Kerry says that the President "fucked up on foreign policy". The White house got mad because he used the F word. Does the Whitehouse not have better things to do than respond to hopefuls running for power within other parties? How about rather than asking Kerry to apologise, you start working on that State of the Union speech in which u'll have to explain how and why you fucked up on foreign policy?
John Pilger writes on how not everything is as it seems when it come to the BBC and Iraq.
move over Celine Dion and Beyonce Knowles, the monks of Sherab Ling Monastery are here to snatch the Grammys away from right under your surgically altered noses.
Ever sat around when intoxicated and wondered about what the largest prime number in the worldwould look like? .. well.. a Michigan State University student has figured it out. Hallelujah! ... and in other news, Michigan State University has slipped in province wide university rankings by a few too many prime numbered spots.
that's it for now.. I just had a lot of links... might rant tomorrow. That leaf game really mellowed me out.
