There is a house in my neighbourhood that has a swastika symbol on the front door. I was going to work a few days ago and it caught my eye. I did not think of it much at the moment.. but it clicked in a few seconds later. That was a Swastika. I was flabbergasted. I didn't know what to say... Why would someone have a swastika on their door in this day and age. Don't get me wrong. I am not so knaive to believe that their are no racists in our wrld today, but most of them do keep their beliefs to themselves and others like them. So, I was perplexed. I actually forgot about the issue completely for a few days. Then, a couple of days later, I saw a couple of Indian children playing in the front yard of that house and I heard their mom, a brown woman caling her children back into teh home in Hindi. Only one explanation was emminent. This was their home. It could not be the home of any racist akinhead or anything like that.

I mentioned the swastika on teh door to my sister and she told me that it is actually a Hindu symbol. It was taken by the Nazis and moulded into their own ideology but it originally coems from the Hindu tradition and actually means everything opposite to what the Nazis stood for. I did not know that at all. I did some reaserch on it and found out that the now infamous (for all the wrong reasons) ancient hindu symbol of the Swastika, signifies the presence of God.

Interesting....
