Mumia abu Jamal is a name well known to journalists and political activists in America. He is a man that is widely thought to be inoccent. Yet, he sits on the brink of death; since 1982 he has been on death row in Pennsylvania. I am reading his book (a collection of articles and literary pieces) titled Live from Death Row which he wrote while he was in prison.

It is a commentay on the US justice system and the inherent biases within it. Abu-Jamal also talks about prison life in both his own perspective and that of others. His book is engrossing. Its passionate. It shows his wide knowledge for the law and his understanding and deep relisation about the prison system which he is a silent lifeless victim to.

The book is easy to read as each article is only a few pages long and most of them do not correlate to each other because they were originally published seperately (in such journals as the Yale and Princeton law journals). His writing is amazing. He is well read, his vocabulary is amazing and his ability to convey his own emotions and that of others is remarkable. This is a great book and I recommend that everyone have a go at it.

on teh same note.... Free Mumia!
