If you have not heard as of yet, there was a HUGE power outage in many parts of southern ontario (where i am) and in many parts of ohio, conneticut and new york state yesterday. Th preliminary findings show that the power outage might have occured to a lightning crash into th niagara/new york power centre.. which is on the amwerican side.. either way this was huge! power was gone form 4:30 to 11:30 .. and that is only in some parts.. some other places are not expecting to have power till a few days and reports from sudbury suggest at least a week.. phew.. thank god i live in mississauga.. i was going crazy without my internet access...

yesterday was an eye opener tho... i have been at power outages before but have never really realied the true "wonder" of them because i have been too young. Our whole world was plunged into darkness.... i have never seen so many stars over suburban mississauga... i saw vega, taurus and the big dipper contellation.. not to mention saggitarius.. and i think i could mae out the milky way... not ot mention that i also saw atleast 4 meteors.. it was breathtaking...i wish i lived out in the country..

moreover, i was talking about this with my bros... and imagine what people in the 1800s an stuff went through and even earlier than that... as soon as it was dark...thre options were limited.. the early man.. imagine complete and utter darkness around you... crazy...

yesterday just showed me our dependence on electricity and machines.. we have an automatic garage door opener... the bros wanted to go out and ride their bikes for a few hours while it was still light out but could not... bcuz we couldn't open the garage. We have a key.. but we keep that in the garage too.. lol.. that is how much we trust machines..

a state of emergency has been called in ontario... the premier is asking all non-essential workers to stay home... but i'm gonna go to work.. my work is essential bcuz i need to get paid... simple..

i vaguely remember power outages once in a while when i would visit pakistan.. there it usxually happened bcuz of the rain.. torrential rain.. pakistan has a lot of rivers.. so hydro power is not a problem at all... no matter what the temperatures are.. but rain can knock out a few powerhouses simultaneously ... people were so much more preared for it there.. i saw panicked people on the streets here... not knowking what to do... scrambling to get candles, matches .. not realising that they should pick up gas for their bbqs because stoves, microwaves and other equipment would not work.. i had ot tell one neighbou that he could be using his camping equipment.. then he took it out... which was about an hour before the electricity came back on atleast here in mississauga...
