being a sports fan .. i have found over the last few years that i like all sports.. everthing from hockey, football, soccer (the real football) to curling and even horse racing.

well.. today was another big day in the world of horse racing. Funny Cide could have won the triple crown for the first time after a 25 year absence of a triple crown winner. He lost the race.

I wanted him to lose b4 the race began. But, then in the pre show i saw a little bio on his past and man, i was truly rooting for him by the time they got off on the track.

He is owned by 7 friends.. they are all working men from new york state. Two of them hold down two jobs each. His trainer is a virtual unknown and b4 Funny Cide, the trainer's track record was dismal and unproven. That all changed with Funny Cide winning two of the three biggest races of this year, including the Kentucky Derby.

Lastly, Funny Cide's rider suffered a terrible racing accident eleven years ago and everyone gave up on him.... he came back with a roar this year too. Having heard all that, I wanted Funny Cide to win. He was the favourite, yet he was the underdog. He was poorly bred. He is not expensively trained. So, I wanted him to win.

He lost. God likes to show his "funny Cide" too.
